HISTORY
Founded in 2010 by Dr. Joseph Strickland and reactivated in 2018, Acclivus is a community health organization focused on violence prevention. We look at violence through a public health lens and maintain intentional social ties in high-violence neighborhoods across greater Chicagoland and Illinois.

Acclivus is led by LeVon Stone, Sr., a violence survivor who leverages his lived experiences to create second chances for victims, survivors and perpetrators to ascend to their highest potentials.

Our team of field directors, case managers, hospital responders, street outreach leads, licensed therapists and administrative staff have positioned Acclivus as respected leaders among the violence prevention community.

We work closely with emerging community organizations that are contributing to curbing violence in Chicago. We believe that organizations, like Acclivus, that are grown from and run by the communities they serve have the greatest potential for success.
MISSION
To support community health and well-being for Chicago-area populations at risk for violence and other negative health incomes.
VISION
To provide all individuals the opportunity to reach their full human potential regardless of their past misdeeds, disappointments, or challenges influenced by internal and external causes.

In my role as field director, I manage the Technical Training Assistance team that provides 40-hour violence prevention trainings that cover the core competencies of street outreach, case management and victim advocacy.

I started my violence prevention career as a violence interrupter for the Latino team at CeaseFire, and was recommended by the Latino team supervisor for hospital response work. I then served as bilingual case manager for patients injured by violence and treated at Mount Sinai Hospital; and served for five years as a hospital responder for John H.
